UI/UX | Web Design | Graphic Design
ACD Systems is a software developer specializing in graphics management and editing software located in Victoria British Columbia. Having started in the mid 90’s as purely an image management software, one we used greatly at Electronic Arts, the company has grown to provide a wide range of products from photo and video editing to CAD and cloud services for photographers.

For my role I was hired as the senior artist to update the look and feel of the company’s new direction. This would include the design of the web site both frontend and the backend retail sections. The cloud services interface for photo management as well as the software UI feature updates and graphical improvements. Along with this a complete rebrand of the company, software as well as the packaging.
ACD’s primary photo editing software was going through major feature updates which required new UI/UX design. Amongst the updates was a rework of all graphics assets to work with high resolution displays as well as a new aesthetic update to the UI. The user startup experience was also created to help the user get a better understanding of the new features of the software.
High resolution vector based asset updates
Mobile graphics app UI/UX design
New iconography for all software applications
All new tutorial and startup experience
Cloud service photo management UI/UX
The packaging for the ACD products needed a refresh and a new direction. Each of the products is targeted at a different type of user, from professionals to casual users. While keeping a consistent style the packaging had to reflect this spectrum while establishing a new look and feel across all products and future iterations as well as stand out among other graphics and Cad software.
The ACD Systems as well as all the product’s web design went through many iterations and was perpetually evolving based on the market and user testing. From campaigns to new product updates over the course of 5+ years the design was consistent but user flows were changed and adapted. A new cloud-based service was created specifically for photo management and a new backend software management and purchasing architecture was built.

ACD Systems products were to be rebranded which included amongst the packaging the in-app designs such as splash screens, the user-startup experience, and all Icons. Over the course of 5 years, the designs evolved while retaining the established direction set out at the beginning when I joined the company, which included the new logos for each product as well the new colors schemes.
